I’m a rule breaker. So, I guess it is no surprise that I took that approach with my 7-day cleanse. You see this is the second time I have attempted this, and the first time was a bust. I only made it three days the first time. Would my results have been different if I followed the rules? Probably! I probably would not have finished. It is not about perfection – but about progress! Yes, I made progress. I completed the 7 days. Here is how I did it:

Every day there was a supplement regimen to follow.  There is a sachet of supplements to take every morning and every evening.  They are designed to help detox the body.  There is liver detoxification support, alfalfa and herb lax.

There is a community to support you with recipes and words of encouragement.

Day One –

I choose to start my cleanse on Saturday. My reasoning behind this is that I’m will be all gung-ho in the beginning, but who knows how I will feel by day 7. This way day 7 is Friday.

Coffee is off the list of approved items. Rule #1 broken. I decided to let myself have one cup of coffee each day. I think it helped. Now I am not a caffeine fanatic. My husband and I split a pot of coffee normally, and then we are done for the day. But I did not want to give up my cup of Joe.

I went to the farmers market to get lots of veggies to have on hand.

It is recommended that you eat at least every two hours. You should basically be grazing all day on fruits and vegetables. Heavy on the vegetables. But in case you don’t know me. I do not like very many fruits and vegetables, which is one of the reasons I wanted to do this. One of my goals was to improve my palate for different veggies. I made Zucchini chips for something new. I would definitely make them again. It was something a little sweet and chewy. (They were supposed to be crisp)

I generally don’t eat very much. Some people might even say that I have an eating disorder. My appetite is small, and when I do get hungry it doesn’t take much to fill me up. So needless to say, I did not eat every two hours. I probably should have, but I didn’t go hungry.

Day Two –

Today I realized that I have a bigger cup. I don’t know why I didn’t realize that yesterday. I am still having one cup of coffee each day, but now it is just a little bit more.

I don’t like to cook. As a matter of fact, I have looked at my husband on occasion and said, “Aren’t you going to feed me today?” I feel like I am spending way to much time in the kitchen. Preparation is the key. Today was a day to clean and chop veggies.

Green beans are my favorite vegetable, so it is not much of stretch when I tried rainbow beans today. Something new, but the same. They tasted like beans.

I’m getting a little hungrier, so I am eating more often. I would say every two hours.

I miss bread!

Day 3 –

I woke up a little tired and hungry. I was also a little dizzy in the shower this morning. So, I’m going to break another rule. I’m adding a little protein. The idea behind no protein is that you are trying to reset your digestive system, and protein is harder to digest. I started my day with a life shake. It helped.

I’m starting to graze because I’m starting to get hungry. Yes, maybe this will help me with my appetite.

Today I added some micro-greens in my salad. They were good and had a nutty, earthy taste.

Day 4 –

The first time on the cleanse, I did not make it this far. I’m excited. Almost halfway through.

I’m starting to sleep better. I woke up refreshed and not hungry.

Today I thought I would try avocados again. Avocados are acceptable on the cleanse. It is a good source of healthy fat. Ya, I still don’t like them.

Day 5 –

I am eating constantly. I definitely have this grazing thing down.

Today I tried riced cauliflower. I am pleasantly surprised. I went the frozen already riced route. I added carrots and celery with some cumin and chili powder. I will definitely make this again.

Day 6 –

I know I was going to try some new vegetable every day, but I have too many still in the fridge.  I am still eating all the time.

My cravings are gone, and I am sleeping better!

I am thrilled that I have made it this far.  Only one more day to go.

Day 7 –

I made it.  If I can do this…anyone can.

The question is “Do you want to feel better?”
